What Are NATED Courses?
They are National Diploma course programmes developed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) that combine practical and theory-based learning to give students the best possible education and training.
The courses in this programme are made up of three theory-based certificates which each take between (6) six and (12) twelve months to complete and are then followed up by an 18-month practical course which will require gaining real-world working experience.
What Do I Need To Qualify For a NATED Course?
- To qualify for a NATED Course you will need to have a Matric Certificate, whether it is an NSC (National Senior Certificate) or an Amended Senior Certificate
- you need to be able to read and write in English
- Be at least 16 or older
- Study through distance learning
Previously it was possible to apply for these courses with a Matric Equivalent qualification, but that has since changed and this is no longer possible. You can only apply with a Matric Certificate.

What Is a NATED Diploma?
A NATED Diploma is the final qualification you receive once you complete the theretical NATED courses. To get a NATED Diploma or a NATED N6 Diploma, depending on the type of course you chose, for example, we will use Human Resource Management.
You will need to complete three certificate-level courses, after which you need to gain 18 months of practical work-based training.
